Rachael Zuppke

Rachael is a user experience researcher and project manager focused on creating legal innovations through human-centered design. She has over 15 years of experience in non-profits, and a diverse background in visual art and public interest law. Prior to transitioning to user experience research, she worked as a paralegal at Legal Services of South Central Michigan, a free legal services program focused on eviction prevention and public benefit maintenance for low-income residents in Washtenaw County.

Her recent research includes user-testing eviction court forms and researching the barriers self-represented litigants face in landlord-tenant court. Additionally, she is a research assistant in the Better Government Lab, which conducts rigorous evaluations to improve government effectiveness and make public services more accessible. Her research has been supported by grants from the University of Michigan Library's Anti-Racist Digital Research Institute and the Master's Thesis Option Program.

She has a Master of Science in Information degree and Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan.
